When you're planning a long day at the beach or on a boat, snacks are a must. Having a good variety of options that are sweet, salty and savory is the way to go. My other requirements are that the snack have some nutritional value, be compact and have minimal waste. Below are my five go to snacks. Nom. Nom. Nom.

1. APPLES are fabulous for the beach. They are healthy and filling and involve no packaging whatsoever. When I'm done I can just toss the core in the sea for the fish to enjoy. I'm also partial to grapes, watermelon and oranges

2. STRING CHEESE  is an excellent low-cal option and a good source of protein to keep you energized all day. Babybel are another great options as well and oh so cute.

3. GOLDFISH are meant to be eaten near the water. I mean, they're shaped like fish for goodness sake. They are healthier than most cookies and crackers out there and if you drop a few in the sand it's no big deal.

4. TRAIL MIX makes a great travel snack, period. Whether you make your own or grab some from the grocery they are typically high in protein and have a great mix of flavors that will satisfy everyone in your group.

5. PICKLES are fun to chomp into on a hot day. Since they are high in sodium they'll help replace the electrolytes lost from lots and sweating and help prevent cramping too.
